She was born April 9, 1913 in Birnamwood, the daughter of the late Frank and Lottie (Golada) Kadow. On May 3, 1930, Josephine was united in marriage to Martin Schmidt, Sr. in Birnamwood. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1989.
The couple dairy farmed until their retirement. Josephine was a member of St. Florian’s Catholic Church, Hatley and was a ‘Grandma’ to everyone. She enjoyed cooking and no one will forget her famous pancakes, hamburgers, German chocolate cake and the special way she made chocolate milk.
Survivors include her son-in-law; Robert Dodge, Birnamwood, eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Josephine was preceded in death by one son; Martin Schmidt Jr., two daughters; JoAnn Schmidt and Geraldine Dodge and many brothers and sisters.
Visitation: Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of services at the church. Service: The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Monday, February 8, 2010 at St. Florian’s Catholic Church, Hatley. Fr. Jerzy Rebacz will officiate. Cemetery: Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. |
