Gordon L. Sickler, 83, Wittenberg, died on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born on July 19, 1926 in Wittenberg, the son of the late Reynolds and Edna (Hanke) Sickler.
On August 13, 1949, Gordon was united in marriage to Bernice Brunner. She survives.
Gordon was employed at the former Badger Plant, Wittenberg and most recently the Homme Home of Wittenberg as a maintenance engineer until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg and also taught Sunday school. Gordon was a proud member of the Wittenberg Fire Department for many years and enjoyed fishing and flower and vegetable gardening.
In addition to his wife, Bernice, Gordon is survived by three children, Lee (Karen) Sickler, Lori (Gary) Whitewing, all of Wittenberg and Keith (Valli) Sickler, DePere; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Erik, Ryan and Samantha; two sisters, Isabelle (Ray) Borchardt, Wittenberg and Vernabelle (Harold) Fleck, Rolling Meadows, IL; one brother, Larry (Pat) Sickler, Wittenberg and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Aspirus ICU and Palliative care staff for all their loving care and compassion.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:30AM until the time of service at the Homme Home Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg Chapel. The Rev. Reuben Carlson will officiate.
Interment will be in Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, Wittenberg.
