Alvin Henry Marten

Alvin Henry Marten, age 86, of Wausau, formerly of Hatley, died suddenly Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after suffering a stroke.
He was born on June 2, 1920 in Ringle, the son of the late Fred and Ida (Drossel) Marten.
On June 21, 1941, he was united in marriage to Mildred Bach in Sheboygan. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2004.
Alvin was a US Army Veteran, serving in the Battle of the Bulge.
The couple owned and operated Marten Builders, Hatley. Alvin was a recent member of Christ Lutheran Church, Wausau, but served on boards throughout the years in various churches. He was committed to the church and his Christian values. Alvin will be remembered for his quick wit, always having a one-liner and for being the type of friend that would help out in any way he could.
Survivors include, three children; Vickie Marten-Zimmer (James Zimmer), Edina, MN, Nancy "Tiffany" Coatrieux, Highland Park, IL and Alan (Debra) Marten, Stevens Point, two grandchildren; David Marten, Stevens Point and Patrick Coatrieux, Highland Park, IL, two step grandchildren; Ann Marie (Kevin) Heath, Coon Rapids, MN and Amy (John) Wisniewski, Ramsey, MN, two step great-grandchildren; Alysha and Mason Heath; and one sister-in-law, Blanche Marten, Birnamwood.
In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Paul Marten.
A celebration of his life and homecoming will be held at 11:30 am, Monday, November 20, 2006 at Christ Lutheran Church, Wausau. The church is handicap accessible. The Rev. Patrick McKenzie will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #10, Wausau. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of the Service.
