Why Plan Ahead

Planning Matters

There are many details and decision that go into planning a funeral. Sitting down with our knowledgeable staff to make those arrangements beforehand gives you the ability to think things over and make sure your have your wishes expressed. It gives you time to consider the options available and make sure that you are covering all of the necessary details.

While some people feel they would like to plan every detail, others simple just want funds set aside to cover the expenses and let their family make the decisions.

Still feeling unsure? Here are some of the most important reasons why planning ahead is always the best option.

You Decide

No one knows you better than you do. Taking the time to preplan lets you make the big choices such as the casket and outer burial container selections. You can also make choices on the following: floral selections, songs to be sung, scriptures to be read, theme for your memorial folders, the photo to be used in the obituary, obituary content and wording, luncheon selections, verse to be used in the memorial folder, monument selection. These are just a few of the decisions that would need to be made when planning a service.

You can plan for every detail or keep it simple and just provide the basic biographical information for the obituary and required paperwork.

Relieve Your Family’s Burden

When a loved one takes the time to preplan their funeral they are certainly taking a burden off of their family that one cannot even begin to imagine. Preplanning also gives your family the knowledge that they are following your desires and gives them more time and energy to focus on healing and remembrance.

It's Easy

While you are able to fill out a form through our website, the best way to preplan a funeral is to meet with a knowledgeable member of our staff. At this conference you will be able to ask questions that you may have and discuss all of the options available. This conference is really nothing more that sitting down and having a conversation.

Sheltering Funeral Funds

While preplanning your funeral takes a burden away from your family for making funeral decisions, setting funds aside for your funeral takes away the fear that your family may have of how to pay for your funeral.

Wisconsin is a consumer protected state. What that means to you is that any monies that are sheltered for your funeral are your funds. They do not belong to the funeral home. There is simply an assignment made on the funds. The funds will remain sheltered until they are needed to help pay for your funeral.

Sheltering funds is simply a tool to set funds away to be used at a later date. At Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home our goal is to discuss the funeral that you desire and to prepare an estimated statement of expenses. We then discuss the options available to you. Simply put, setting funds aside provides peace of mind for your family.

What If I Move?

We keep a record of your preplanned arrangements and any monies that you may have sheltered. They can easily be transferred to any funeral home in the United States.

Where Do I Start?

The most effective way is to contact one of our knowledgeable staff members to set up a conference. This conference can take place at our funeral home or in the comforts of your own home. We have also visited nursing homes as well as CBRF's. You can also preplan online using our form to create your personalized arrangements.
